Free fans and air conditioning units, SVDP on track for record heat relief assistance
St. Vincent de Paul-Cincinnati surpasses total heat relief assistance provided in 2020
In just the first few weeks of summer, St. Vincent de Paul – Cincinnati (SVDP) has distributed more air conditioning units than all of last summer to neighbors in need. The Fan & A/C Distribution is presented by Braun Heating & Air Conditioning. So far, SVDP has distributed 723 fans and 525 air conditioners – providing heat relief for well over a thousand families, with the hottest days of the year still to come.In anticipation of the hottest weeks of summer, SVDP is seeking donations to support its distribution of even more fans and A/C units. A donation of $15 provides a box fan, and $120 can buy an A/C unit. Donations can be made online here or by calling 513-853-1011. “Having a fan or air conditioning unit can make a huge difference for neighbors, especially for the elderly or those living with respiratory issues,” says Mike Dunn, Executive Director of St. Vincent de Paul – Cincinnati. “This distribution not only provides comfort but also keeps neighbors healthy and safe as the temperatures climb.”This year, instead of hosting select distribution days, SVDP has been distributing fans on a walk-up basis at the Don & Phyllis Neyer Outreach Center (1146 Bank Street, Cincinnati, OH). Those in need of a fan are asked to simply call ahead by dialing 513-562-8850 on the day they would like to pick one up. Normal service hours are 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday; 9 a.m. – noon on Saturdays. Fans will be distributed until supply is exhausted. There is a limit of one fan per household, and those who received a fan in 2020 are not eligible to receive a fan this year.Neighbors over the age of 65, or those with a medical need, can apply to receive an A/C unit by clicking here. There is a limit of one A/C unit per household, and those who have received an A/C unit from SVDP in the past 4 years will not be eligible.
